“The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.” Ephesians 1:18-21
“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” Romans 8:11
He has risen, He has risen.
Our Lord Jesus has risen from the dead just as He has said (Matthew 28:6).
Before Jesus died, He had prophesied that He shall die and rise again the third
day. (Mathew 16: 21) (Mathew 17:22-23) These two quotation from Matthew
depict his speech to the general public and the Apostles
Without the resurrection,
Jesus ministry ends in defeat and disillusionment and we can only pity Jesus as
a dead martyr. But the resurrection of Our Lord Jesus culminates the passion
narrative in all the four Gospels because it is at the centre of redemption
itself.
The Son of God gave His life
as a ransom for many by His death at the cross, buried and on the third day
resurrected from the dead. The resurrection is a clear indication that Jesus is
the powerful Son of God who has conquer death and reign as Lord of all
(Roman1:4; Roman4:25).
The resurrection of Our Lord
Jesus from the dead is at the heart of the Gospel. Any presentation of the
gospel must stress His resurrection as the essential explanation.
As Paul stressed in 1st
Corinthian 15:17 “If Christ has not die, resurrected and ascended into
heaven, our faith is futile and will still be in sin”. If He has not risen,
Christianity as a religion will be empty. His resurrection gave great impetus
to our faith.
Without resurrection, there
would be no Apostolic foundation for the church (Matthew16:18), His
resurrection turned deserters back into faithful followers,
Without resurrection, there
would be no model of sacrificial living. The life of Jesus embodied and
demonstrates the oxymoron of crucified life, that a self centred life is a
misery and genuine abundant living occurs only when one dies to self-interest
as well demonstrated by Jesus Christ dying for you and I to have eternal life.
Thank you Jesus for the
resurrection power demonstrated which give me hope of reigning with you
forever.
