Matthew 28:18-20
God's eternal programme is for humankind to live forever, to have dominion and to continue to have a full relationship with Him, thereby creating man in His image(.Gen1:26).Man lost his rightful position and this privilege in the garden of Eden to Satan through disobedience and so was driven out of the garden.
God for His love and for the fulfilment of His eternal purpose of creating humankind sent His only begotten Son to the World to save, reconcile, redeem and restore man back to their rightful position Jn 3:16. God does not want anyone to perish but wants all to repent and come back to Him ( 2Peter 3:9). The only way back to God is through Jesus Christ (Jn14:6).
Jesus for His love for humankind and obedience to God His father
came to save and redeem man back to God. Jesus Christ during His ministry on
the planet Earth made so many disciples. He chose 12 disciples out of which
Judas Iscariot fell out by betraying Him.
Jesus after his resurrection commanded his disciples to go and
make disciples of all nations baptising them in the name of the Father and of
the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Mt 28:19).
A disciple is a dedicated follower of Jesus. To make a disciple is to prepare, equip and impact other lives with what you have gained from your relationship with Jesus. You must have been a disciple at one point of your life before you can become a discipler.
Every born-again Christian is supposed to be
a discipler because this is the great commission and it is for
the continuity of the eternal programme of God. Those that have been saved
must rise up for the salvation of others. God wants as
many people to come back to Him to continue the full fellowship with
Him. The onus is on every born again Christian to go out
and make disciple of others and lead them back to God. Discipleship is the
commandment of Jesus to every believer and is thereby
mandatory for us to do.
It is the heartbeat of God, hence the bible passage that says ’ we
should go ye therefore to the world and preach the gospel to everyone and
whosoever will hear and believe will not perish but have everlasting life. Let
us as Christians live a holy, Christlike life, be a good role model,
so that our life can minister to others and bring them to Jesus.
