“But now we have been delivered from the law; having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.” Romans 7:8
“For Christ, is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.” Romans 10:4
Two key word are predominant in the topic; deliverance ie the action of being rescued or set free and law which means a set of commandments with penalties attached on failure of doing. While Christ came to give us total deliverance from all things, the law seeks to bind.
The point of law is always to
find out man’s sin. Rom 3:20 ‘Therefore, by the deeds of the law no flesh
will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin’ but
Apostle Paul declares in Gal 3: 13 ‘ Christ has redeemed us from the curse
of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is
everyone who hangs on a tree”)’ Christ delivered us on the cross at
calvary. Hallelujah! We can only enjoy this grace if we know Him, have a
relationship with him and walk in this understanding.
Rom 6: 6 ‘knowing this,
that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done
away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. We should have the understanding that we are no
longer slaves to sin and we have been delivered.
Finally, Gal 5: 1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. Let us stand firm in the understanding that Christ has delivered.
You can only enjoy this deliverance if you a relationship with Christ; total deliverance from law is also a call to repentance and rededication, are you ready?
