“And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16:17-18
Have you ever had to cope with a serious or prolonged illness? It can disrupt your whole life and stop you from living up to your highest potential. The various kinds of healing work Jesus did give us more insight into the adverse effects of sickness in a person’s life.
Jesus healed the lepers to show His authority over physical ailments. Leprosy does not only cause a fatal physical illness, it could alienate you from yourself, family, community, and from God. Jesus also healed the demon-possessed.
The casting
out of these unclean spirits had to do with people who were physically well but
were afflicted with invisible conditions like epilepsy, mental illness, greed,
hate or bitterness. Jesus Healed them ALL. In such cases, Jesus was giving
examples of how believers would later lay their hands on the sick and see
them restored back to good health.
Jesus promised that any
believer, including you, could do this! You can lay hands on the
sick and see the sick restored back to good health. All that is required for
God to use you in this way are four basic criteria:
1) Your desire for God to
heal through you;
2) Your hands to lay on sick
people;
3) Your faith to activate
the power of God to heal and
4) Your reliance on the Holy
Spirit to impact His power when you act in Jesus’ name.
If you can fulfil these four
requirements, you’re ready to get into the
healing ministry!
