“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23

After creation, God said, be fruitful and multiply (Gen.1v28). This fruitfulness is the physical reproduction of the same kind. The breath of God (His Spirit) made us a living soul (Gen.2:7); unique of all His creatures. Spiritual fruitfulness is God’s mandate and desire for mankind.

Jesus even told His disciples that they were chosen and ordained to bear much fruit (John.15:16) and that they should abide in Him to bear fruit; without Him they can do nothing (v5). In reality, neither can we.

The key to spiritual fruitfulness is therefore to abide and remain in Christ; this must be done consciously. Letting Jesus’ Word dwell richly in us (Col.3:15), enables us to grow in His grace, mature in the faith and know Jesus more intimately.

To be spiritually fruitful, we need to avoid keeping our mind on things of the flesh, (Gal.5:19-21), (Eph.4:31); and to manifest the fruit of the Spirit. (Gal.5:22-23).

As children of God, we need to be mindful of our status (Rom8:16), that we’re created in Christ for good works (Eph.2:10) and are to walk worthy of the Lord…., being fruitful in every good work … (Col1:10).

From creation, it is therefore evident that we’re created to be spirituality fruitful, which often manifests when we diligently serve God and are obedient to His commandments.

As we go out today, may the power of the Holy Spirit, help us to live a fruitful life that is honouring to the Father in the name of Jesus. Amen.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Our Heavenly Father, we thank You for creating us in Your own likeness in Jesus’ name (Genesis 1:26-27).

2. O Lord, I thank You for being born-again, now a new creation in Christ and being restored into eternal life in the name of Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:17).

3. Thank You God, that we are part of Your family, accepted in Christ, in-dwelt by the Holy Spirit and for lavishing Your grace on us in the name of Jesus (Ephesians 1:5-7).

4. O God, search my heart, point out my errors and help me to confess all things in my life that may be blocking my sweet fellowship with You in Jesus’ name (Psalm 51).

5. O Lord, remove the roots of sin from any area of my life, which may be preventing me from living a truly fruitful life in the name of Jesus (Matthew 5:30).

6. O Lord, destroy every hidden/unfruitful self-motivated agenda or ambition in my service to You in the name of Jesus (Philippians 2:3-7).

7. Lord, purify me through Your word, that I may bear much good spiritual fruit and continue to be a vessel through whom You would be pleased to work in Jesus’ name (John 15:2b).

8. Deliver me from the daily temptations and keep me from being convinced by the deceit of the enemy who masquerades as an angel-of-light, seeking whom he may devour in Jesus’ name (1 Peter 5:8).

9. Almighty God, with power that raised Christ from the dead, destroy every element of unfruitful works of the flesh in me, in the name of Jesus (Galatians 5:19-21).

10. Heavenly Father, I desire to live a fruitful life in Christ, keep me from walking with the ungodly and help me to meditate in Your law in Jesus’ name (Psalm 1:1).

11. O God, help me to depend on the sufficiency of Your grace, looking to Jesus daily, trusting His Word and maintaining my hope in Him alone, the Author and Finisher of our faith in Jesus’ name (Hebrews 12:2).

12. Lord, we pray that our young ones would develop the Godly character and spiritual fruit that come from a heart that is rooted and depend on Christ, in the name of Jesus (2 Corinthians 3:5).

13. Father, we pray that our young ones would mature in the faith, grow in grace and spiritual understanding, equipped to stand firm in their faith to give an answer for their hope in Christ (1 Peter 3:15).

14. My Creator, please finish the good work that You started in me, so that I may be fruitful in Your service, to Your glory and praise in Jesus’ name (Philippians 1:6).

15. Father, we give You thanks for answered prayers in the name of Jesus.
