Proverbs 12:1
Proverbs 12:1 (NIV) - Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid.
For anyone to advance in knowledge, such person needs to subject himself to teaching and discipline which in some versions of the bible is translated as instruction under competent authority. It requires total submission and humility which could only be exhibited by noble and God-fearing souls (Acts 17:11). If you love knowledge, you must love to be taught and disciplined by others.
On the other hand, those who hate to be corrected get consumed in their folly and referred to as brutish in some translation and sometime likened to an animal that hates correction. Whoever that is not eager to learn of God, such are like a beast without a conscience or could be said to be stupid as the brute cattle.
