Ways to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment

As a teacher, I have a duty of care for my learners. I should ensure that the learning environment feels safe for the learners and that they are well supported. These could be achieved in the following ways:

Building a strong classroom community: helping my learners to integrate well with their colleagues and building strong networks through various class and group activities Building self-esteem and self-efficacy: I should help my learners to believe in themselves by giving them encouraging experience right from the inception of the class. 

Using positive nonverbal communication: nonverbal messages help to reinforce learning for the learner such as eye contact, facial expressions, gestures, posture and body orientation, proximity and humour amongst others.

Motivating students: motivation is a key factor in student success. As a teacher, I should ensure that my students are constantly motivated by involving them as active participants in learning, showing enthusiasm and working from students strength and weaknesses
