Understanding the Principles and Practice of Assessment Question and Answer 3 |
3.1 Summarise key factors to consider when planning assessment
The key factors to consider when
planning assessments are:
·
Course standards, units, credit value and all
criteria for the assessment
·
The evidence required to meet the criteria and
the most appropriate assessment method
·
Learner's special need or requirements if
required
·
Learners location to know to plan for a site
visit for observation
·
Feedback method to use.
3.2 Evaluate the benefits of using a holistic approach to assessment
Holistic approach to assessment
helps the Assessor to save a good amount of time during the
assessment process if you a
knowledge of the units, there won't be need to duplicate assessment
that can be done once due to
similarities.
It is also cost effective - by
planning assessment in a holistic way, you save yourself having to do
too many trips, by making sure
that in one assessment, for example, observation, you gather as
much evidence as possible that
will cover many criteria across various units.
It also helps to gather naturally
occurring evidence
3.3 Explain how to plan a holistic approach to assessment
To be able to plan a holistic
approach to assessment one will need to study the course standards
very well, so as to be able to
identify criteria and units that are linked
3.4 Summarise the types of risks that may be involved in assessment in
own area of responsibility
The followings are types of risks
that may be involved in ICT area;
·
Health and safety risk including fire outbreak
·
Risk of over-assessing and putting too much
pressure on the learner
·
Risk of gathering evidence that is not authentic
or valid
·
Risk of working outside the agreed framework
·
Risk of data and confidentiality violation
3.5 Explain how to minimise risks through the planning process
Identified risks should be
discussed and assessed. Health and safety issue should be well assessed
and communicated well to the
learner so also other identified risks
