The key factors to consider when planning assessments are:

·         Course standards, units, credit value and all criteria for the assessment

·         The evidence required to meet the criteria and the most appropriate assessment method

·         Learner's special need or requirements if required

·         Learners location to know to plan for a site visit for observation

·         Feedback method to use.



3.2 Evaluate the benefits of using a holistic approach to assessment

Holistic approach to assessment helps the Assessor to save a good amount of time during the

assessment process if you a knowledge of the units, there won't be need to duplicate assessment

that can be done once due to similarities.



It is also cost effective - by planning assessment in a holistic way, you save yourself having to do

too many trips, by making sure that in one assessment, for example, observation, you gather as

much evidence as possible that will cover many criteria across various units.



It also helps to gather naturally occurring evidence

To be able to plan a holistic approach to assessment one will need to study the course standards

very well, so as to be able to identify criteria and units that are linked

The followings are types of risks that may be involved in ICT area;

·         Health and safety risk including fire outbreak

·         Risk of over-assessing and putting too much pressure on the learner

·         Risk of gathering evidence that is not authentic or valid

·         Risk of working outside the agreed framework

·         Risk of data and confidentiality violation



3.5 Explain how to minimise risks through the planning process

Identified risks should be discussed and assessed. Health and safety issue should be well assessed

and communicated well to the learner so also other identified risks
