I’m Still Standing

Teach us to number each of our days so that we may grow in wisdom – Psalm 90:12 (God’s word translation).

Treading the pedestrian path of Springbank terrace one snowy Sunday morning with all carefulness so as not to slip off due to the fact that the sole wears I was putting on were not compactable with the snow bugged terrain because I was adorned with the dictated choir-uniform for the Sunday service as mandated by the lady I call Rotimi; this was a seemingly semi-dark well sown suit (a lady out of capitulation called it a charcoal-coloured suit after been totally conquered by the sowing dexterity of the designer) with a well-fitted designer shirt fit for me, my Fossil wristwatch (which was given to me as a gift by someone who would do anything to hand a gift down to me every blessed day except on my birthday) was almost constituting a public threat and temptation to those who have robbery tendency and weakness to stand the blaring grandeur of such. My titanium made ring was gallivanting through my well stretched fingers except the wedding ring finger which in due reverence has been accorded the required sanctity of been left empty until marital vows have been exchanged with someone I still do not know, that sounds quivering but that is the simple truth. My mind is not made up yet but I’m now in the process of what I call a completely conscious overhaul and absolute consciencetizement of my mind. My defunct or stolen pair of glasses which dived into complete oblivion after a memorable meal one Sunday afternoon at the magnanimity of someone I secretly admire were also reflecting fully that Sunday morning. Well, sorry for the deviation. In my state of perfect quiet that blessed morning, my heart pondered heavily on salient issues of various proportions.

First among the issues was “attitudinal exertion” which I have been able to fully functionally link to what I call “revelational exactitude”, an abstraction of Pastor Dipo Ajayi’s insight (SCM OAU 2003/2004). As I stepped out of my house that morning, a piece of paper the content of which I can no longer remember dropped from my diary. Having the premonition that this was not quite useful and for the fact that I was running late, I decided not to pick it up thereby allowing it to desecrate the sanctity of our very immaculate environment; an attitude I find nauseating. After walking some distance, I couldn’t stand the overwhelming conviction I was harbouring in my mind, I knew everything was wrong. This compelled me to walk back and pick it up.

This may sound quite trivial but I think my reaction to this was borne out of the fact that, I operate in a sanitary realm where I have conceived and got an absolute revelation of an environment devoid of waste and pollutants. This revelation as it were has completely transformed my attitude to the environment and the transformation was simply due to my conviction and the revelation I have of an ideal environment.

How does this relate to us? We need a complete revelation to have an attitudinal change that is unwavering. If you have a revelation of God’s purpose for your life, your attitude will be made exact, constrained and channelled towards such. You will never stop coming late to church or events no matter how well you struggle until you have a revelation of timeliness and promptness. Most of the lifestyles we crave and yearn for sometimes seem to us as mirage and we easily dispel them thinking they are not attainable. Of a truth, they are not easy to come-by but they could be attained by having the right attitude which only comes as a result of proper revelation of what exactly we desire and getting such consciously built in our attitudes.
More of these and other issues under scrutiny will be well dealt with in my future writings. This is simply an anniversary edition of my seasonal write-ups and I have included below some of the underlining principles I have advocated for within the past twelve months:

“I often times think that the intellectual display of intuitive wizardry, good variegational blend of personal esteem and attitudinal prowess are required to live a pleasant life but in a critical search for answers to some empirical and salient thoughts of mine has availed me the opportunity to discover the miseries of God’s inexplicable sovereignty of issues and as his children, we can dive into some of his secrets and take advantage of them. Please note that you cannot hack into it if you do not have full authorization. I can lead you through the complete path of God’s full sonship affiliation” (extract from my congratulatory message to Ibiyemi and Rotimi on their wedding on 25 November 2008).

“Don't be left out in any move, if you are not being called upon, motivate yourself and get involved.
Also in your struggle towards achievement and self fulfilment in life and in Christ, know that death may be an option but failure is not. If life has not got a good smile on its face, please induce it with yours. These are some of my underlining principles....they may be ok for you and they may not.
If you have so wondered why I'm quite gentle, easy going and liberal, it's just that I have counted all joy for Christ sake. Go and win for Jesus” (extract from my birthday message to Rinmak on September 26, 2008).

The real essence of life is pitched and strategically linked to our desires to attain our well conceptualised and imagined future dressed with affluence, prosperity and success. When these are not met, it also stipulates that we be gallant enough to absolve life of complicity blaring to its face, complete vindication. This implies being bold enough to take responsibility for the turn out of events in our lives.
In my stumbling and rising through the whirls and caprices of life, the rate of which should best be left for science to decipher, I have come to realise that, whatever happens to you, you can make history out of it. To make good history such that posterity will be excited about, you will need to eschew self capitulation and keep ineptitude at bay; this could only be achieved through the application of your imaginations.
You should never allow any unpleasant event in you life to cast aspersion on your vision. Your losses are not worth wasting time on so as not to worsen the situation according to one of the world prolific writers, William Shakespeare who said and I quote "Wise men never sit and wail their loss, but cheerily seek how to redress their harms.” We could learn from our past mistakes but it will be best to absolutely consign them to the rubbish bin of history.

On the prevailing global issues mostly the economic avalanche and climate change, I will like us to brace up and chat a new course for a better living.
The ongoing economic disorderliness the entropy of which is yet to be fully determined may have had severe negative impact on so many lives, families and nations but I will want to say that, this is meant to give us a new scope of focus and an opportunity to make straight all crooked structures. This is a significant meltdown; when an object melts, we can remould and shape it up to whatever form or shape we want it to take, once it solidifies, such will not be possible again. Let us use this moment to remould our economy, give it the desired shape we want it to take and I'm quite sure that when the economy picks up again and get solidified, our faces will be overwhelmed with laughter.

On climate change and global warming, it is high time we adopted a high level of precautionary measures on our various activities that are capable of cracking down the environment. Experts have identified the following as direct consequences of global warming; “rising sea levels, glacier retreat, arctic shrinkage, and altered patterns of agriculture are cited as direct consequences of human activities. Predictions for secondary and regional effects include extreme weather events, an expansion of tropical diseases, changes in the timing of seasonal patterns in ecosystems, and drastic economic impact" Kerr, Ra (2006).
I will continue to support the clamour for Renewable Energy and Geo-Engineering such as carbon sequestration projects which includes carbon dioxide air capture.

Most of all, we need to go back to God, the creator of the universe who has the ultimate solution to all of these problems. He knows the end from the beginning and can turn our situations around.

God deserves more than you can give or imagine...His mercies and grace are quite too enormous to recount.
He loves us to fault and we cannot accurately phantom why but in our humble mind and attitude reflect on this and conclude that it is one of his very sacrosanct methods that he has declared private, his kingdom having been made protected availed us the opportunity to inherit it.

I'm still standing today because of his grace and mercies which He has lavishly made available to me, I have gone through difficult and perilous times such that I marvelled how I got out of them alive but he saved me. I will continue to dwell in the house of the lord forever not because I was born in the church but because I have hacked into the secret, got a vivid revelation and now fully understanding and know the complete dividends of dwelling in the secret place of the most high so as to abide under his shadow perpetually.

Unto him who is able to keep our bodies and souls unto the day of our Lord Jesus be all glory honour and adoration.

Kindly join me in singing my dedicated annual birthday hymn; Now thank we all our God.

1. Now thank we all our God,
with heart and hands and voices,
who wondrous things has done,
in whom this world rejoices;
who from our mothers' arms
has blessed us on our way
with countless gifts of love,
and still is ours today.

2. O may this bounteous God
through all our life be near us,
with ever joyful hearts
and blessed peace to cheer us;
and keep us still in grace,
and guide us when perplexed;
and free us from all ills,
in this world and the next.

3. All praise and thanks to God
the Father now be given;
the Son, and him who reigns
with them in highest heaven;
the one eternal God,
whom earth and heaven adore;
for thus it was, is now,
and shall be evermore.
