Reflection on Acts 9 – Romans 3

Acts 9 to Romans 3 highlights God’s transformative power and the unfolding of His plan for salvation through faith in Christ. In Acts 9, Saul’s dramatic conversion on the road to Damascus demonstrates God’s ability to redeem even the most unlikely individuals for His purposes. Saul, later known as Paul, transitions from a persecutor of the Church to one of its greatest apostles, underscoring that God’s grace is available to all, regardless of past sins.

As Acts progresses, we see the Church expanding, breaking cultural and ethnic barriers. Peter’s encounter with Cornelius in Acts 10 reveals God’s impartiality, affirming that salvation is for both Jews and Gentiles. This theme of inclusivity carries into Paul’s letters, where he emphasizes that righteousness comes through faith, not works or adherence to the law.

In Romans 1–3, Paul begins a deep theological exposition of humanity’s universal need for salvation. He declares that all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23). These chapters confront the reality of sin, demonstrating that neither the moralist nor the law-abiding Jew is exempt from judgment. The law reveals sin but cannot save; only God’s grace through faith in Christ provides justification.

Together, these passages call believers to embrace the transforming power of the gospel and to live by faith. They remind us that salvation is not earned but freely given through Christ’s sacrifice, making us righteous before God. Acts 9 to Romans 3 challenges us to share this message boldly, just as Paul did, and to reflect God’s grace and love to a world in need.
