Please read Genesis 40 - Exodus 7
Genesis 40 to Exodus 7 portrays God’s enduring plan, even in
adversity, and His preparation of leaders for deliverance. In Genesis 40-50, we
follow Joseph, who, despite betrayal and imprisonment, rises to power in Egypt.
Joseph’s interpretations of dreams reveal God’s control over the future, as
well as His ability to use hardship to fulfil His promises. Joseph forgives his
brothers, affirming God’s redemptive plan: “You meant evil against me, but God
meant it for good” (Genesis 50:20). This emphasizes that God can bring purpose
from suffering and aligns human actions with His sovereign plan.
Transitioning into Exodus, we see that God’s covenant
extends beyond individuals to an entire people—the Israelites. Oppressed in
Egypt, they cry out to God, whose faithfulness does not waver. God calls Moses,
a reluctant leader, through the burning bush and empowers him with signs to
affirm His divine authority. The resistance of Pharaoh in Exodus 5-7 sets the
stage for a divine confrontation that will reveal God’s power and justice.
These chapters depict God as both sovereign and
compassionate. He is intimately involved with His people, responding to their
suffering and preparing a way for freedom. Moses, with Aaron’s support, becomes
an instrument of God’s will, illustrating that God equips those He calls.
Through Joseph’s and Moses’ stories, we see that God’s deliverance may come
after long suffering, but it always unfolds with purpose, revealing His
faithfulness and unmatched power.
May God bless you as you study His Word
