Promoting equality and diversity is a requirement according to the Equality Act 2006.

As a teacher, I must embrace diversity and recognise cultural differences and ensure that everyone is treated equally. The followings are ways in which equality and diversity can be promoted; Mode or ways of communication must be fair to all and everyone must understand clearly; use of appropriate terminologies and vocabularies is important and comment must not be offensive or discriminatory when they are made.

The training or learning resources should not be seen as discriminatory or stereotypical and they must meed learners need.
The teaching method must be fair to all and should not make anyone feel excluded
The teaching environment must be a standard one that is accessible to everyone.

People with disability should also be well considered.
