Bible in A Year: Genesis 6-9

MEMORIZE: “Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts” (Isaiah 6:5).

READ: Isaiah 6:1-5

God is a God of glory. He is surrounded with glory beyond man’s comprehension or description. The angels of God bask in that glory as they stand in His presence.

And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. Isaiah 6:3

His glory is so strong that the Seraphim who are assigned to stand before God cover their faces and feet in honor of Him. When Isaiah had a revelation of God’s glory, he saw his filthiness probably for the first time. This is one thing God’s glory does: it reveals your true state to you. You might have thought you were the most righteous believer in your church. You might have weighed yourself using certain yardsticks and given yourself a pat on the back. But the day you encounter God’s glory, you will see yourself as you are. In His presence, ill motives, poor ministerial considerations, defective service and gifts are exposed. This is one reason you must encounter His glory.

When Israel’s national prophet through whom the coming of the Lord was revealed, examined himself under God’s glory, all he could see was his wretchedness. He cried out, “Woe is me”. God’s glory reveals your true position. It shows you where you are lacking. God’s glory humbles you. Are you full of yourself, your achievements and what you know? It only shows that you have not truly encountered His glory. Are you unable to identify your areas of weakness? You have not yet tasted of God’s glory. But you might say, ‘I regularly attend church, I praise and worship God. Have I not experienced His glory by so doing?’ The truth is that what most believers experience is a trickle of His glorious presence, which brings tears to some eyes, cold shivers to some, fear to some others, while some others are slain in the spirit. When the fullness of His glory comes down in an assembly, people will not be able to move; even the priest will be helpless as God Himself takes over. May you encounter a greater dimension of His glory this year in Jesus name.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, show me Your glory, that everything about me and around me may pale in comparison.
