Memorise: Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. 2 Corinthians 1:4
Read: 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Asides healing and deliverance, another benefit that can be derived from house fellowships by members is provision. A house fellowship should be a place of provision. Those who are hungry or thirsty should be able to come there and receive food. At the judgement of the nations, the Lord said He would tell those who took care of the poor that they did it to Him, and those who neglected the poor that it was Him they neglected (Matthew 25:31-40). If you attend a house fellowship, it would be easier to identify fellow members who have just one pair of shoes, or shirt or those who wear the same skirt repeatedly. Do not leave that brother or sister in that state. You must minister to that fellow according to your ability. It is easier to touch lives in a practical way through the house fellowship than in a large gathering. You could also assist those who cannot afford school fees, house rent, or who cannot find a means of livelihood. The house fellowship is a place of provision. To what extent are you using your surplus to fill up the lack in your brethren?

A house fellowship should also be a place of comfort. If someone in the neighbourhood or a member of a house fellowship is in crisis, he should be able to come to that fellowship to receive comfort.

And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. 1 Corinthians 12:26
From today’s Bible reading we understand that after God has comforted you in your particular dressing situation, you should also be able to comfort those who are in distress. When those in trouble come to you for help, calm them down and tell them not to fear or worry, that the God who answered your prayers will surely answer theirs. Build their faith in God, share testimonies of what God has done for you and share comforting Scriptures with them. Take time to pray with them, visit them and identify with them in their situation and it shall be well with them. While doing this, your words must be with grace, seasoned with salt.

ACTION POINT:
Prayerfully search for those who are hurting, in sorrow or distress and ask God for grace to comfort them.

Bible in one year: Numbers 4-6
